About Me

I am a professional reporter and award-winning writer who also develops and operates websites.

I have eight years of reporting and writing experience, including at three newspapers in Knoxville and Oak Ridge, Tennessee. I have covered stories in many beats, including crime and courts, politics and business, and local government and the U.S. Department of Energy. I can write news and feature stories, proofread pages, take photographs, and edit pictures and videos.

I am currently completing a 16-chapter history book for the U.S. Department of Energy Office of Scientific and Technical Information (OSTI), chronicling that organization’s history since 1977. The project has required much in-depth research, lots of interviews, and an ability to weave information about diverse topics into one compelling narrative.

I am a past president of a local nonprofit journalism organization, the East Tennessee Society of Professional Journalists (ETSPJ), and a former membership chair of the national SPJ. I also have public relations experience; I recently completed a contract to help the City of Oak Ridge communicate with its citizens, writing articles and taking photos for a municipal newsletter.

I can set up websites and operate content management systems, including WordPress and Drupal. In addition, I am teaching myself several computer languages, including HTML, CSS, and PHP. Those are widely used languages that control website content, styles, and activities.

I can help you with your writing needs, whether you wish to produce a newspaper story, magazine article, book manuscript, information package, or press release. I can also help you set up a website if you are interested in developing an online presence but aren’t sure where to start. If you want more information, please contact me using the reply form below or the contact page on this website. Thank you for visiting, and I hope to hear from you soon.
