COVID-19 cases rise due to delta variant, vaccination slowdown

COVID-19 cases are rising again in the United States, about tripling in terms of new cases per day, as the delta variant takes hold and vaccinations slow down.

The Washington Post had this story on Friday, July 16, 2021: Delta variant takes hold in U.S. as coronavirus cases rise nearly 70 percent. https://www.washingtonpost.com/health/2021/07/16/covid-cases-rising/

From the article: “More than 97 percent of hospitalizations are among those who are unvaccinated, Walensky said, and almost all covid-19 deaths — which climbed 26 percent in the past week — are among people who have not received a shot.”
